If not already selected, select the "System Summary Tab".
On left hand-side under the heading Real-Time Protection Info select "Change Settings".
Turning off real time: In the Real-Time Shield Settings select the "Advanced" Tab. Under the heading "Advanced Settings" Check the box named Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) and click "Save Changes".
Again select the System Summary Tab; On the left under the heading "Update Info" select "Go to Updates" (with an Internet connection open)

Spyware Terminator can be set to scan & update automatically Here's how: Open Spyware Terminator select the "Settings" Tab, select "Scheduler Settings", then select "Update Settings" making the desired choices always clicking "Save Changes" or your choices will not be remembered.

REMEMBER: When downloading ccleaner on your own remember to click "Alternative Download" NOT "Download from file hippo.com"

Open program by double clicking on the Desktop icon. Click the "Run Cleaner" button, wait for the list to fill and then click the X in the top right corner.

Using the CCleaner's Registry Cleaner:
Click the "Registry" Tab on the left > the right pane changes > "Scan for Issues" > Status bar reaches 100% the "Fix selected Issues" button is active click that, a dialog box opens and asked where to save it go to My Documents make a folder called "My Downloads" with a new folder called "ccleaner" and save the backups in this folder. Close program and your done.

CCleaner can be set to run automatically Here's how: Open ccleaner in the left hand column, select "Options", in the big window high-light "Settings". Then put a check in the "Run CCleaner when computers starts" & "Automatically check for updates for ccleaner" boxes.

Installing Ad-aware Free

Double-click Ad-AwareInstaller.exe > Click "Next" > Click the "I Accept the license agreement" circle > Next >
Enter first name only or "User" > Next > Advanced Installation > Next > Click the "Perform a Smart scan at startup" circle > Next > Next > Wait... Click Cancel > Finish button.
Your changes have not been saved dialog box opens. > click Yes > Click stop scan or wait for it to finish but, click the finish button > on the left hand side click the Web Update button in the center box you will click the update button > Wait... > Click Yes the download starts > a dialog box appears click OK button > click the red X in the top right corner of the open dialog box.

Open program by double-clicking the icon > click the Update button in the middle of the dialog box > click Yes > wait... > click OK > click Scan Now > select Full Scan > in lower right corner click Scan button > wait... > once finished you will have three tabs one critical objects if any are there select them and click Remove > Then select the Privacy Objects tab > if any objects are there select them > click the Remove button > once completed with the two tabs click Finish button > in the lower right. It may ask you to save your changes is so, select "Yes". Click the red X in the top right and your done.

Running Spybot Search & Destroy

Double-click Spybot Search & Destroy to open the program. Click "Search for Updates" A Spybot S&D Updater dialog box opens. Scroll all the way down and high-light "WebmasterFree.com (USA)" and click "Continue" always us WebmasterFree.com (USA) I find that it is updated more that some of the other (USA) mirrors. The boxes should already be checked by if not check them and click "Download" An Information dialog box opens click "OK" > click "Exit" or Red X out of the Spybot S&D Updater dialog box. In the left-hand column click "Immunize" > This is different than the last version, once the green status bar goes all the way across then click "Immunize" with the green + symbol in the top left area. Again once the green status bar reaches the other side; in the left-hand column at the top click "Search & Destroy > "Check for Problems". Once the program has finished make sure all check boxes are checked and click "Fix Selected Problems" button then "OK" click the Red X in the top right-hand corner and your done.

Auto Updating Spybot Search & Destroy

Spybot has an auto update and run feature in the advanced mode; Open Spybot by double-clicking the desktop Icon; Choose "Mode" select "Advaced Mode" in the left hand pane select "Settings" and then "Scheduler"; click the "Add..." or the "Add(Updater) Check both boxes and click "Edit" from the menu chooses. Click the "Schedule Tab" from there you are able to choose which day or week, when to run, set to your preference and click "Ok". The same goes for the auto updater click Add, select the two boxes and click Edit set the time and date as before.

De-fragmenting your Hard Drive

Click "Start" double-click "My Computer" hover your mouse over the "C:\" drive and right-click select "Properties" Select the "Tools" tab, select "De-fragment Now", then "De-fragment" the process starts. Do not restart the computer or install any programs, you should not do anything while defraging, turn off your screen saver and your "Power Settings" while this process is running. You can stop your screen saver and power settings by right-clicking on the Desktop and selecting "Properties" then the "Screen Saver" tab. Select "None" for the Screen-saver and then click "Power" and select "None" or "Always On" for Desktop computers. For laptop computers you should only change the "While Powered On" section.

Updating Windows Operating Systems

To upgrade to the latest version of the browser, go to the Internet Explorer Downloads website.

If you prefer to use a different web browser, you can obtain updates from the Microsoft Download Center
or you can stay up to date with the latest critical and security updates by using Automatic
Updates. To turn on Automatic Updates:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Depending on which Control Panel view you use, Classic or Category, do one of the following:
* Click System, and then click the Automatic Updates tab.
* Click Performance and Maintenance, click System, and then click the Automatic Updates tab.
3. Click the option that you want. Make sure Automatic Updates is not turned off.

Adobe Acrobat Reader Update; up to v.9.0

When your Adobe Acrobat Reader program is open and you notice an "Update" button in the top right corner of the open window. Click the button, you will be taken to Adobe Acrobat's website. Click the "Download Now" button. Depending on your modem speed time will vary. Click Install Now when asked > Install > Finish. Your done!

Microsoft Office Update IMPORTANT !!!

It is very important to update any and all of your Microsoft software. i.e. "Word", "Excel"...
1. Open Word or Excel Choose Help.
2. Choose Office on the Web. Make sure Internet Explorer is set as default web browser or this will not work.
3. Choose Check for Free Updates (in the upper right hand corner)
4. Under Downloads section choose Office Updates
5. Choose Options in the new dialog box you will see an Options hyper-link click that
6. Choose Use larger update files that should not require access to my product CD or Network installation location
7. Choose Save
8. Choose Agree & Install > then Finish. You may need to restart your computer if it ask. Click Here for update page. (Make sure you are using IE or this may not work)

Repeat these steps until there are no more updates...
